Revisiting Aberaeron - The gulls and pools of Aeron

This fresco has sat on my lounge wall for several years telling me to revisit it - It was based on a sketch taken from the window of a room in a lovely B&B now sadly closed.

For those who know and love Aberaeron in Ceredigion - you will see this is a representation not an exact reproduction of the place. This became a composition in its own right and took on a life of its own. It is a visual dance - a poem written on the right had side of the painting - on the honey ice cream cafe roof.

Today I deepened the colour - incised the plaster and bled more pigment in - making a more graphic etched emotionally felt image.

Come let us sing it out
Cows on the hill
Gulls on the roof
Swans in the harbour

The architect and builder

Here is to Bethel
And the pools of Aeron.
